Imagine the opposite of Disney World and then put that in the middle of Rhodesia, that’s Baton Rouge.

We have a new hire here at our company who just graduated last year who is a lib and he was looking for the same thing you are. He moved to New Orleans and commutes to BR each day.

God that sounds miserable.

That’s just stupid - could’ve basically got what he wanted in Spanish Town - and probably a little more

60-70 miles down I-10 twice per day. No thanks. I was finishing up my degree at LSU and lived with my girlfriend in NOLA and I hated doing it 2-3 times per week. I made that commute for a year but it had an end date I could look forward to. No way I'd do it indefinitely.

What area is closest to living in like ... Austin or similar vibe.

I guess you could pitch a tent say up on that hill around City Park close to the Interstate and it would feel sort of like the "vibe" of Austin currently.

Yep - my husband did that after Katrina - we had evacuated to BR but work was still in NOLA

It was awful for him (and us bc that was our only car bc we had lost his truck)
