I was on I-10 right past the HWY 73 exit several years ago bringing my friend to the airport because her mom was having emergency surgery in Orlando. The car in front of me starting swerving right to left then jerked hard right causing the van to flip at a very high rate of speed. As it was tumbling, it flung the passenger out of the car. I can’t exaggerate it enough, it freaking catapulted his arse out the window. The passenger and the van both went into the tress and the guy was probably 15 ft up in the air as they went into the trees. It was like slow motion, I can still describe what the guy was wearing. Anyway, it was right in front of me so by the time I could react to what the hell just happened and slow to a stop, I was at least 300-400 yards away. I pulled to the side of the road and my friend called 911. At this point, damn near every car was stopping and probably 10 or so people were walking into the woods to help. I was shaking like a leaf and really disturbed by what I just saw. I decided that there was nothing I could do that the 10 or so other people couldn’t so after regaining my composure, we went ahead and continued on to the airport. For a long time I wondered whether I did the right thing or not. I can’t even explain how surreal the whole thing was and how much it affected me at the time. I don’t think I would have been any help at all anyway. Kinda disappointed myself actually.

We have the Motorist Assitance Patrol in Shreveport Bossier that patrols the interstates and can help with flats, out of gas, jump start, and other simple matters,
If you have that or something similar in your area, put the number in your phone. When you see a breakdown, call them and report the location. It will ease your guilt and perhaps keep you from walking into a trap.
I’ve called in two breakdowns. Was about to call in a flat today when I saw emergency lights go on behind me. It was the MAP vehicle already arriving.

That’s good advice. I wonder if we have something like that up here in Monroe.

Never witnessed a bad enough wreck to stop and help but I think I would in the situation
Side note: Based on the pics that new F250 held up pretty good for such a bad wreck

Depends on the wreck. If it’s bad, then of course. All these little small wrecks with minor damage, no.

Enjoy that lawsuit, ole boy
Actions like this are protected under the Good Samaritan Laws.. As a former volunteer FF/Medic if/when I stop to assist I cannot be sued for rendering assistance.
Now there are risks involved moving a person depending upon injuries, but you have to assess the scene to determine that such as car catching fire.

I stopped to help a hot blonde out and she had like 3 urban gentlemen hiding in the woods waiting for somebody to stop. Luckily I carry.

We got the guy out
What was the reason to get him out immediately before first responders showed up?

I usually just drive really slow, to the point of stopping on the Interstate, blrubberneck for a good 30 seconds, stop paying attention to where I am driving and completely eph up traffic for the next two hours. If everyone else in the English/Spanish speaking world wouldn't also do this I wouldn't have to sit in traffic hours longer than necessary when first responders clearly have things under control and there is nothing I can do to help.
