How about "eric.the.red.ica" or whatever his name was in Icelandic?

I must be reading wrong because the Declaration of Independence refers to our nation as "the thirteen united States of America," As united states on its own is a generic and meaningless term I would hope anyone with an IQ above room temperature would understand to what I was referring. I guess the term American on its own, God Bless America and America the Beautiful have no meaning to you.

While the continents are named America, we are the only country to which the name usually refers. When the Germans and Japanese learned the Americans were coming did they speak of two continents? When "Made in America" products are manufactured where do folks think they were made? When immigrants braved an ocean voyage to reach America were they headed for Brazil? Are American embassies such as the one where hostages taken in Iran representing all of the two continents?
