The animosity around this subject has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

The cargo shorts / anti cargo shorts gives this a run for it's money easily.

And to the MLB sporting this for 50 years comment, thats just not true. They've been wearing that type of hat, but they bend the bill slightly. Since the late 90's early 2000's the trend has started to be completly flat. I played ball all my life, my dad was a high school baseball coach. I've spent a lot of time at the ball park. You got made fun of if you had your hat like that until I was in high school. Cal State Fullerton started rocking it in the CWS if I remember correctly and suddenly it was a new thing in baseball at the high school and little league levels.

My least favorite flat bill look is when some 12 year old travel ball team comes into an establishment or sporting event all rocking flat bills

I have the urge to punch them all in the face, or tell their parents none of them are going pro and the thousands they are spending on travel ball is a waste, or better yet, that 75% of the team is on the team not because of ability but because they are friends with the coach's son

I seem to remember Dontrelle Willis as the first prominent player in the big leagues rocking the flat bill. After that, they were everywhere.

2004 Indy 500 winner Buddy Rice sported flat bills. His career fizzled after that win. I blame his stupid cap.
