Staying closed longer won’t cause more customers to come in when everything is open but that doesn’t change the fact that there will be LESS customers when we do open.
Some businesses will fail even after we open strictly from a revenue stand point.
Even though you probably take pride in your buisness acumen it’s pretty clear you don’t know what it really takes to successfully start and operate a buisness.

Sure, the damage has been done.
Some businesses just won’t recover.
But that was always the price. Closing the economy was always going to do serious damage.
Was it worth it? Probably not.

FWIW I own 2 small businesses in Baton Rouge. One of which I had to completely shut down during the time of the pandemic and transfer all of my employees to the other buisness which is also operating at 50% revenue.

Really? Government bad, freedom to make bad choices good! Government has a role to play sometimes when it comes to the health and well being of society. Try that as a defense next time in front of a judge and see how it works out. DUI laws? Selling alcohol to minors? Dumping toxic chemicals into our water supply? Age of consent? Or consent period...let the people and business decide because they always make the right decisions. Our democratic government is of the people, by the people and for the people. They are not trying to crash the economy or gain mind control over us with a new vaccine, they are trying to keep everyone as healthy and safe as possible whether you agree or not.

It has nothing to do with emotional capital. I included it to show that I understand what’s going on and I am 100% not for the continued shutdown. Even though I don’t agree with it I am not going to stand around and look for people to blame, which was part of the original question.
Continue to look for things that have nothing to do with the issue as it is clear that’s all you have left in the conversation

Funny, I was told this was all so we wouldn’t overwhelm the hospitals.
If it was all about keeping everyone as safe and healthy as they could, they’d outlaw boudin, sugar, salt, cereal, sweets, cars, and cosmetic surgery and abortion ; to name a few.
You can tell yourself their actions weren’t as sinister as some here may believe, but you’re a damn fool if you think this was all done in the name of public health and safety.
