re: When was the last time you weren't in some sort of pain?

quote:Sure, but this one isn't even 50%.
Stereotypes exist for a reason. They're not 100%, but directionally accurate in most cases.
I actually looked it up before I posted, and according to Grok, for people under 40 with chronic pain, 30% of cases are the result of "Post-Trauma or Injury-Related Pain," just for starters. Additionally, "approximately 40% are attributable to modifiable lifestyle factors such as high BMI (obesity), smoking, and poor ergonomics."
So, perhaps when the stereotype is only accurate for 4 out of 10 people, it would be best not to speak in absolutes as razorbroncs did. Nor is it the best example for you to hang your "stereotypes exist for a reason" hat on, as it seems that, were that the case, observable reality supports the opposite conclusion.
Believe it or not, sometimes stereotypes are just stupid and ill-informed opinions.

I'm 59. I am getting ready for a hip replacement and a spinal fusion. I don't know what it is like to live without pain but am looking forward to having less pain to deal with.

After all the surgeries, chemo, and side effects i went through for nearly two years im happy with just a little soreness.

I'm 53 and I realized something a few months ago.
There is a general "soreness" that goes along with aging. I'm 53 and have had some entertaining injuries throughout my life. I figured out a few months ago I'm going to be sore one way or another. I can be "muscle sore" from exercise or I can be "old sore" from getting old.
I choose to be "muscle sore" from exercising and it's a sore you can get used to pretty easy. Also, working out just makes everything else easier.

I do find a correlation between the level of pain and diet. If I eat clean, the less back/neck/joint pain I have. If I eat like as a-hole (sugar, carbs, etc.) there is a noticeable uptick in pain I assume relative to inflammation.
There is generally a 2-3 day lag in either direction.

Every morning..Back pain that I can usually get to loosen up with a hot shower. Here lately my left hip hurts during long car rides and at times my left leg has gone numb or tingly while laying in bed I'm 55 so guess I've earned them

I have pseudotumor cerebri (basically, high brain pressure) and have had it for over 30 years. I have headaches at some level 90% of the time. I'm used to them so I rarely notice them.

That's a ridiculously broad statement that doesn't account for sports/military/workplace injuries, car accidents, genetic/hereditary conditions, complications from autoimmune disorders, and botched medical procedures, just for starters.
Congrats on the charmed life though.
I've been shot in the shoulder
I've broken two ribs - twice
Shattered my wrist in a head on collision
Broken my ankle playing soccer
Had 2 concussions
10 staples in my scalp from a bad accident at work
My entire left eyebrow stitched back together from a fall on the corner of concrete
No chronic pain at 39. But DEFINITELY a charmed life, right?
It's just by staying physically active every day. It's that simple.

65 years old. Occasional knee pain going down stairs and occasional pain from weed eater elbow. The only things that cures a pain is another pain.

So, sorry about your broken ribs, eyebrow stitches, and your soccer injury, but, with all due respect, you don't have the life experience or depth to give me advice or tell me my chronic pain is 100% due to "lifestyle issues."
