We have this never ending need to categorize ourselves. An attack is an attack. Obviously you should do what you can to get away from that person, but women have a sense of security that is very false. This usually pertains to women of lower class btw. There is a point where you must defend yourself. Only do what you need, but by all means defend yourself.

I always have done exactly this. I have had a SO for more than half my life and none of them have gotten hit by me. If you have to hit your woman you need to consider choosing better women to be around.

If a woman acts like a man by throwing punches I'll match whatever she is doing. I'm much more restrained on females.
I told my wife I'd never hit her. I made that promise before we were married. About 6 months into the marriage she bitch slapped me. I returned the favor using about 50% of available strength. She broke out into serious crying while reminding me of my promise. I told her she forgot to read the fine print. That was 48 years ago. We are still married. We haven't hit each other 1 time in anger since. True story.
