When does someone no longer have the right to work? (Oregon State pitcher related)

This might be more suited elsewhere.

When does a "criminal" lose the right to work?

In this guy's case, he's been punished, theoretically rehabilitated and if experts deem him no longer a threat to children, why should he not be able to work in his chosen profession, assuming that profession doesn't put children in danger?

Baseball is obviously what this guy is most qualified to do.

If this was a carpenter, nobody would have an issue with him WORKING would they?

He could easily work as a professional baseball player, if a professional baseball team was willing to employ him.

He didn't even get drafted, despite being a first round talent, so obviously none of them are willing.

Maybe he can go play in Japan or Korea or something.

He certainly has a right to work.

Employers, especially those in the public eye, have a right not to hire rapists and molestors, though.

Idk, maybe his burger flipping ability is pretty good.

Agreed on that. I just don't think the people outside the game should be voicing anything.

A profession that puts you in the public eye on a regular basis is not the best place for a sexual predator.

Would you knowingly hire a convicted rapist to build your house when there are so many other options?

He isn't "banned" from working, but many are going to want to avoid him, and that is their right.

Why? Sports are entertainment. What the viewing public thinks carries some weight.

What exactly did he do? I didn't read up on him.

Amazingly, in a sport that not only markets "faces" but also deals with children in various charitable aspects, teams might not want a child molester.

Are they supposed to terminate their relationship with Make-A-Wish because of the optics and the possibility that their new star player can't be unsupervised around children?

I'm sure McDonald's will hire him. No one is forcing anyone to not hire him

Then they can choose not to attend, then it's their prerogative.

I said the same thing about Vick, post prison.

He has a right to do what he's best qualified for, as long as someone is willing to give him a chance.

He was in the draft. Nobody wanted to give him a chance.

Bases covered.

Never answered the question. Why should people outside of the game not voice their opinion?

He doesn't have a right to play baseball.

ETA: Not even sure what you're arguing ITT. He should be able to play baseball as long as someone hires him? Well no shite.

He has a right to do what he's best qualified to do... I understand that it requires someone to hire him.

Why? I have a right to voice my concern and possibly boycott a product based on choices made by the company.

But nobody is obligated to give him a chance.
