my dad's family were sharecroppers he didn't have his first pair of shoes till he was 11
my mom's family or traveling tent revivalist didn't have a permanent home she was 8 or 9
when they married at 16 and 15 they didn't have high school diplomas
they were missionaries to the Navajo Indians lived in a mud hut
then worked in California canneries the same ones that Steinbeck wrote about
got GED's by going to night school
worked as a minister
adopted me and my sister
now if you can find any advantages in that please do so
