My kids are spouting out dino names that I've never heard of.

Dinosaurs are good entertainment and sell a lot of toys, books and movies. Whether all of these species actually existed at some point is questionable.

My kid tried to explain to me what a carnotaurus was about a year ago. He was 5 and I thought he was mispronouncing something made up. He even said it was a T-Rex with horns. I agree there have been a shitload of new ones recently.
I am sure he is correct, but the picture of that one looks to have zero upper extremities.

In the late 80's, we grew up with pterodactyl, triceratops, stegosaurus, brontosaurus, T-Rex and Velociraptor.

Diplodocus definitely existed in the 80s
I remember that as a kid

They were around for 150 million years. There were probably hundreds of thousands of species of dinosaurs during this time, 99% of which we will never know.

Before I could read, I thought the bronto ribs the Flintstones were ordering was a pool raft. I never understood why a pool float would flip their car.

Did you think there were only a few different species? From an evolutionary point of view it makes sense to have more variations, not less.

Dinosaur Train FTW. My kids would watch that show on a continuous loop if I let them.

The T Rex had feathers, as it turns out. That's a little mindblowing.
