Reasons:

We like being comfortable?

We don't care what people think?

We got married.

You have to live in an affluent area nowadays if you want to see people dressed nicely.

And with the job market the boomers created how many millenials can afford to do this?

You sound like you are describing college kids.

Not just college kids..Go anywhere on the weekend, and ppl in their 30s, 40s, 50s look sloppy as hell. It's like when most people have kids, they just give up. No wonder the divorce rate is so high.

Would you rather everyone dress in slacks with high white socks and white sneakers like all these old geezers do?

People who wear cargo shorts are decidedly not hipster.

Well sure, but that's not a recent development.

I hang out with plenty of hipsters, and fashion is always a pretty big topic, usually.

I cant remember the last time I wore sneakers.

Days I have conference calls = Suit
Days in the lab = Branded Polo and jeans.
Dates = Slacks, button up , and if its cool outside a blazer.

When I am home I will wear one of my 50 saints/lsu T-shirts though

So idk maybe its the area you are in? I live in and work in white collar areas so idk?

how do those people dress on the weekends?

Basketball shorts and a wife beater around the house.

Fishing shirt. Boat shorts. Flops. And a $4k watch when not home. Think frat guy slumming it. Or yacht guy stuck on a bass boat.

If out at night, slacks, boots, button up. Maybe a sport coat.

Ummmm....I'm just saying, how hard is it for men to put on a collared shirt and decent pair of jeans, or women to have clean hair and not look like they rolled out of bed? It's not that crazy of a notion to take a little pride in ones self.

Yep, another thread obsessing on how other people dress. Like clock work on the OT.

God forbid it is a non-branded polo.

I don't think it's necessarily that people don't care, but a combination of things. Some have found comfort wear as well as the whole be yourself motto as how they dress outside of work. It makes them happy. I prefer to dress semi casual or jeans and a semi dressy top when out and about, but I think most in my area wear athletic wear when just running errands or shopping around town. Just a sign of the times
