When being a nosy bitch backfires

Instead of letting the police do their job, she decided to post the picture on Facebook with this description:
The post reads:
Ok people, take a look at this creep. Today at Knox he approached my children when they were sitting at the frozen movie in the children’s clothing section, he said”hey kids” they looked up and he took a photo, then he said I’m sending this to a 16 yr old. I immediately removed the kids from that area and took them to security at the front so I then followed them and took his picture and he took off. Centre management were straight onto and so are the police, hopefully he is caught. Police said if he is a registered sex offender he will be charged, this happened at Knox, be safe with your kids
The picture ended up being shared thousands of times until the man in question finally heard about it. According to the Knox Leader, he responded by posting the photo he actually took, which was an innocent selfie for his kids in front of a Star Wars poster.
Even so, the woman’s post was shared 20,000+ times and was seen by the man’s friends, family, and even colleagues.
The woman was shocked and apologized profusely to the Knox Leader, but she was not able to get in touch with the man who turned out to be a father of three.
“It was never done with the intention of splashing it all over these social media pages.”
“My children are going through an enormous amount of pain (because of this) and I hate to think what (the man) and his family are going through.
“I just don’t know how to say sorry enough.”
“One thousand times over I wish I could just take it back.”
The man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, is considering legal action.

I think he did say "hey" just as a casual acknowledgement because i guess the kids were looking at him as he went to take the pic.
The man told a reporter that he never took selfies and he thought it would be something his kids would enjoy to see him with the Star Wars cutout he was standing in front of.
Her nosy kids were probably staring at him so he probably just said "I'm sending this to my kids" to explain what he was doing.
But Mrs NosyButt and the 2 little NosyButts (who she has probably raised to be this way) instantly assumed he was after them.

She did the right thing as a protective mother until she went to social media with a premature accusation. At that point, she was just being an attention whore.
