I am an attorney but it has nothing to do with my watch collection. I have told the story before but all my watch collection came from selling off most of my collection of manual wind Daytonas. I bought them during college, law school, and my early career when used dealers literally had to give them away. As the story goes an Italian magazine published a Picture of Paul Newman with his Rolex 6239 on and it started the rocket-like increase in their value.
At one time I probably had the largest most complete collection of manual wind Daytonas in the US but I bought them saving beer money. I probably owe a thank you to all the guys I bummed beer off of during college.

It’s a 1803 Day Date they were made from about 1960 to 1977.
Never send it to Rolex to get serviced. They will replace everything that makes it valuable. Find a good independent that knows vintage Rolex. Do not have the dial or hands replaced. The plexi crystal and crown are replaceable parts no big deal if those get replaced. Bracelet looks like it’s at end of life. It can be restored but will set you back about $1800 to $2200. Cool watch.

Thanks. Im not a big "watch guy" but have always respected and been intrigued by quality watches. Im currently rocking the Casio "Marlin" dive watch if that tells you how much I know. I do appreciate the info and the piece will definitely be taken care of until I decide what to do with it

Honestly I’d send the head to Phillip Ridley to have it serviced and send the bracelet to Rolliworks in Miami and have them restore it. That is a nice heirloom piece.

As mentioned it is a 1803 DD. The interesting thing is it has the Omani royal crest aka "khanjar" on the dial.
Do you know the provenance of the watch? If the dial is authentic the watch has a story. The Sultan of Oman used to give them out and probably the majority of them outside his diplomatic circles went to the British Military. If it is what it purports to be you have something special. It needs some TLC, especially the bracelet, and if it were mine the bracelet would go to Michael Young at Classic Watch Repair in Hong Kong.

I honestly have very little info on the watch. It was my father in laws who was given to him by his pops. Other than he " got in Europe many years ago" I know nothing about its history

Does it have any engraving on the back? If it happens to have "John Asprey" engraved on it you have my attention.
