I worked one shift at Old Navy in like 2003. Realized working in a retail store was not the life for me. Got a call as I was going home from a local coffee shop I’d applied to, took the job, and worked there all through college. It was great!

I just quit a side job because the pay was mediocre and they were micro managing everyone. I enjoyed the work itself, but they didnt let you do it in peace.

3 days at New Orleans hamburger and seafood company - I was 17

Don’t remember why I really quit - I stayed the second night until like 2 am to scrub some tubs and all the hair on my arms and some skin fell off

. Back in the 80’s applied for job at Winn Dixie in Walker. Dude said I had the job and could start the next day as long as I cut my hair

I applied in 2003 when I was in college and they told me they couldn't hire me because of my tattoo. It's not anything vulgar and it's located in the back of my arm(bicep). I told them I would wear long sleeves and they still denied me. Ironically, my best friend was a co manager there years later and he has full sleeve tattoos that were always visible.

But, my shortest job was back in high school. My parents knew someone that owned a small grocery store and he said he needed help stocking. I accepted the job and on my first day, he said he didn't need me to stock and that I needed to cut bait since they ran crawfish traps. Pay was $20/day. I was there for 9 hours outside in the freezing cold and I cut three buckets of fish. No break, the light above me fell and broke. I got yelled at for being too slow and for the light. When I was done, I went wash my hands and I was paid $5. He said I needed to pay for the light and to be faster tomorrow. I left and on my way out he told me to bring in the bait I had cut. I kicked over all three buckets and never went back.

My mom was pissed at me for quitting. They called me to come back and my dad told them to go frick themselves.

Haha, I get that. A dollar sign in the wrong spot would be the least of your worries if you really knew what went on.

Also the First LT. position on a fast attack was an enlisted position. Big accomplishment for me but I still wore silver dolphins like the rest of them.

I took a job at the superdome just to get in for free to the worst football championship game ever.
I was there 8 hours and didn't get paid. But saved $1k on the ticket.

Two days as a bus boy at a busy weekend restaurant. First day the outgoing guy trained me. Second day I worked a 10 hour shift solo and the waiters tipped me out a total of $20.00. No call, no showed the next weekend and never went back.

I worked a 7 hour shift as a waiter for Lafitte’s Landing in high school. I didn’t need the job, I just wanted something to do. I don’t remember the pay - probably in the $5 or $6/ hr range. I got yelled at in front of customers for not holding my hand the correct way while bringing a tray of food out to a table. Turned in my uniform the next morning.

Call Center at LSU my freshman year. To all the management that works there, frick you and your damn quotas. If I am calling random numbers the computer generates and reading the script you gave me, how is it my fault the people hang up on me and do not want to participate in your survey. Your script sounded like a scammer anyway you frickers.

Rant over

About 10 minutes.
I was 17 and answered a want ad from a guard dog company, and showed up to 3 dudes who looked like they came straight out of deliverance. Turns out the job position was "Agitator", first thing they do is hand me one of those big padded sleeves and then bring out this huge rottweiler, the guy couldn't even hold on to the dog and it shot off at me like a bat out of hell. Took them what seemed like minutes to get the dog off of me and I decided that job was not for me.

No. I didn't get paid because to get paid I would have had to leave the dome
Instead I wanted to watch the game. I stood in a spot I knew would be empty and watched the game. The pay was only like $200. I had a job. I wanted to get into the game for free and I did.

I was Lee Corso's bus security.

The scumiest job I had was this marketing job. But I kept it a few months because I made great money.

I would sell coupon books door to door for $20. I would keep $11 on each one sold.

It was nothing to sell 10. 20 was my goal. But I had days I sold 40.

The company up and moved out the area one day.

Come to find out. No taxes paid. They didn't pay their lease and they weren't paying the supervisors.

It was scummy as hell but the deals were great. They was my only ever job in sales.

Liquor company. Was told I was gonna be doing office work. I was working and labeling whiskey. Someone spilled a bottle and caught the table on fire because of the heat from the label maker. I did not go back. Nor will I be drinking their whiskey.
