I think it's hot. I don't judge people by their tats. But I don't really give a shite what most people think and grew up around some heavily tatted people. So, I'm not scared of them or really even notice a lot of times.

Many residents at my hospital are fully sleeved. Just stop for a moment and think that the whole nation is not the same as where you live. Not that that is a bad thing. Everyone needs somewhere to fit in....

...and for good reason. I hire professionals and if they have tats, I best not know about them. What they do in their personal life is their business. When they're on my clock, it's my business.

I hate tattoos. I don't have any, and usually won't date a girl if she has more than one or two.

saw a guy in the elevator today with a full sized dollar bill tatooed on his neck. somehow, that doesn't look "professional" to me.

Which is why I think where the tat is located and what it represents is more important than it just being a tattoo.

Huh?
My post meant that MDs are covered in tattoos which are NOT covered.
When I began working my current job they asked me not to cover my tattoos....as In I was asked to wear short sleeves with my tattoos showing.

1.Tattoos went mainstream in the early-mid 90's. That is basically now a full generation ago. When do we get to cycle back to them not being cool anymore?

I think they're kind of played out at this point, at least in the major metropolises.

2.I have never seen a tattoo on anyone, anywhere from any walk of life that I thought looked good.

I have seen a few that I thought were nice. I know a guy from my time in the infantry who had a large one across his shoulder blade and back that had the name, rank, and date of every single one of the guys that he'd served with that had been KIA (it was quite a few). It was simple, elegant, and beautiful. 99% of the others are pure garbage, especially non-military ones.

4.I do think it's cool when people in a shared experience get a collective tattoo (like the cast of LOTR who were sequestered together in New Zealand for over a year.)

Somewhat agree, but I still get that "Panama City SB2K07!!!" from a lot of those.

I've never seen anyone with any real pull in New York or DC or Chicago or Boston or somewhere like that displaying an open tattoo in a professional setting, and I don't expect that will change.

but I have an amazing amount of respect for people who are different than me.

Funny thing about tats is that the person with a tat wants me to form an opinion of them. And so i do.
Its just probably not the opinion they intended. But of course i show them respect as a person.

Tattoo removal business is experiencing huge growth, and in my area the number of tattoo shops is definitely in a downward trend.

I don't think fully sleeved means what you think it means. A sleeve is kind of a type of tattoo where your entire arm is covered as if to look like a sleeve. It means you have a lot of tats on your arm or arms. Some people do it to have an overall theme where things make sort of a large mural or it is a hodge podge. She (?) is saying that tats are very common and accepted where she works.

So all people who have multiple tattoos do not have the ability to be professional. How old are you exactly? Because thats some narrow-minded thinking.

It's their body they can get tattoos if they want to but it does say something about that person. They either need attention or something. And they shouldn't be surprised when it limits their career/job opportunities.

I'm more so referencing the ones covered in ink that almost view tattoos as some sort of fashion statement

It leads me to believe they make other poor decisions.
