When tattoos cover your hands and other areas that can't be covered up in a professional atmosphere, you are most certainly conceding any hopes of climbing the ladder of opportunity. Obviously there are other occupations one could achieve success in but they are more or less blue collar careers.

And there's nothing wrong with that

As long as they are not on the neck or face I'm ok with it. I don't have any but I'm not stuck up to people who do.

Clearly you have a problem with it. Otherwise you wouldn't have created this thread. But you aren't the only one who freaks out about people with tattoos. This subject has been discussed 100+ times on the OT.

I think it shows poor decision making skills, but if it makes them feel good, and they have the $$$ to waste on them, so be it.

Now, if they are covered with tats and need dental work, but can't afford it or are phobic patients, I don't have too much sympathy for them. Deal with it.

I know some great people with tats so I try not to judge; however, the responses in this thread are exactly why you shouldn't get a visible tattoo if you want a white collar job.

I meant there is nothing wrong with accepting the fate of being a mechanic, chef, etc. the world needs those guys too. But yeah, tattoos are for impulsive, uneducated, lower socioeconomic fools.

Just my opinion

If I decide to hire them that's another story, but still mostly this ^^^^.

I don't think you can totally write off someone for having a tattoo. Ton's of great people who do shite I don't agree with. But at the same time, I think it's perfectly acceptable to initially judge someone for what I think is a poor decision. Single tattoos and multiple tattoos are poor decisions IMHO.

I try not to judge people based on experience only. I don't have the need to call other people trash to make me feel better about myself.

Meh- I know plenty of educated and well off people with tattoos. Getting them to show you what they have is a different story though. They know when and where to show off.

I know a few people with sleeve tattoos that just keep it covered up when working. A few decades ago, having a tattoo in the work environment was a taboo issue. It doesn't seem like a massive issue now.

It has nothing to do with making me feel better about myself. It's human nature to judge/stereotype
