1987-88 RUF 911 Yellowbird

Most all the modern reviews indicate the Yellowbird was not nearly as sorted as we were led to believe by the auto rags of the time. It still is iconic to anyone that consumed the reviews at the time. Even today it still looks great from the outside.

Still remember seeing one parked in the Prairieville Winn Dixie parking lot making groceries. Somewhere around 2006 or so.

That’s probably the same dude that showed up to the first SAE car show at LSU. His son was an ME major and he had a few cool Ferraris. I seem to remember he made his money in concrete or something.

From what I remember it was a oil service guy. Someone will chime in with his name. Owns the house The Toy was filmed in and hosted a fundraiser with GW at some point.

Yep that’s him. Nice guy who showed up with friends to support that event. I think he had a black F50 as well. If it’s the same one I’m thinking of he drove the piss out of it because it was rock chipped up from the miles he put on it. I think the other Ferrari guys said they called the car blue nose because the rock chips down to the carbon gave it a weird blueish looking nose.

I thought he patented some type of concrete process from what I had heard but that was a long time and many killed brain cells ago. Oilfield service would probably make more sense.

Could be a method for oil drilling.

One sure thing about TD, someone here knows him and will chime in.

It's interesting seeing what people are into. I've had a fast Cutlass and a fast Mustang. My dream car would have a little more traction than those cars. Maybe a "bugeye" WRX STI.

Not sure why you are getting DVs even though I am not a Merc fan the GT is an awesome (though not perfect) car though I would pick the GT R in Green Hell.

Out of the many collections of exotics around the world, this little number was the most seditious, save for a Shelby 427 Cobra. Watch the Yellowbird Nurburgring video on Youtube with earbuds. Pure apex predator

Dan Heard. I bartended that fundraiser my junior year at LSU. I spent all day looking at his cars, he had the red Enzo, a silver McLaren F1 and an old convertible Jaguar. A few years ago I saw him in a Pagani. He also owned one of the only black Ferrari F50’s ever made.
