I've never been diving but I think I would enjoy it, maybe someday. For those that do go SCUBA diving any interesting stories? Close calls? Or neat stuff you've dived on (in before your mom etc) like sunken U-Boats or underwater caves?

Not scuba diving but big barracuda got in my face off of Key Largo while snorkeling. I'd move back and it would move forward and visa versa. This went on for a few minutes. I think I peed a little.

from time to time, there are some pretty scary close calls posted here. I have always thought that I would really enjoy it, but when I hear shite like that, I am dissuaded.

Close calls?
Not if you're a decent diver.
ETA: I've always said there are two kinds of divers:
Divers that pee in their wetsuits.
Divers that lie about it.

No. 1- Saved a newbie and his 13 yr old daughter from 80'. He went OOA and total panic mode. Tried to blast to surface.
No. 2 - Big tuna cones darting through our group.... confusing behavior....14' Tiger comes gliding through our group 10seconds later. HOLEE FRICK

Definitely wouldn't be a third after that one, for me at least.

Had several large sea lions get close enough to touch while diving in Cabo. Not necessarily a close call, but it freaked me out a little.

Exact thing happened to me off Norman Island in the BVIs about 14 years ago. The barracuda in my face and me peeing a little as a result.

My first time diving they dropped us in the middle of a ton of nurse sharks. They were very laid back but huge.

Love nurse sharks - those would never bother you unless you played with them
Which sharks should be scared of?

I've been diving since 91.
Daughter who got certified last year at the age of 10 had her first dive trip to Grand Cayman. Her first dive, a socialized nurse shark acts like a freaking puppy and swims around us and it even swims to a seated dive master in order to get pet. Unreal.
I told my daughter to not expect that every dive, and then for the next week that nurse shark and another seem to be at ever site that we are at. She thought I was full of it.
Turns out the dive masters are spearing the invasive lion fish and feeding th sharks.
Glad I had the GoPro for the week.

My uncle let me use his scuba gear to dive in his pool for about 20 minutes or so when I was a kid. Had some water get in my goggles. Thought I might die. Then I stood up

Saw a guy shoot a barracuda once with a spear gun. He had to tie the gun off to a rig, the fish was pulling him all over the place.
Had a guy run out of air on a trip. I though for sure we were going to be headed back in with a body. Somehow, he surfaced after everyone was on the boat and was okay.

I give Bulls and Tigers the stink eye. Just about all the others are good with me.
I'm currently saving some cash to dive with the Whites at La Isla de Guadalupe.

Back in the early 2000's was diving when my dive buddy whipped out a disposable underwater camera (a big fad back then) and took my pic. Only topside did I find out it wasn't my picture he wanted but the barracuda about three feet behind me. Needless to say the picture is framed and on a shelf in my office to this day.

Not I but a buddy went spear fishing and said he got that feeling he was being watched. Looked around and noticed a barracuda that was about 10 feet away. He said he mirrored every move he made. If he moved his head so did the Cuda. He said he swam up to the boat with his spear aimed at him the whole way. Was freaked to the point he made someone pull him in the boat so he didn't have to take his eyes off of it.
No thanks.
