What's up with Google maps always telling me to make illegal turns?

I first noticed this on Franklin at St Claude back when you couldn't take a left. The GPS Always said to take a left and u turning there is a pain so I did it. Now the city has allowed for left turns there. Anyway dailyI'm getting told to turn where I can't.

Like left on Carrollton from Earhart (another maneuver I'm occasionally guilty of). Then telling me left on Claibourne from Carrolton. Left on Broad from Gentilly. Left on Gentilly at Elysian. So I noticed it a lot in the last few days.

Is this because it's based on driving data and so many make the illegal turns?
Now some turns I feel can be safely done. Others are going to cause accidents.
It's just odd that Google maps can't know what turns are illegal. It seems to know everything else

It takes NOPD a day an a half to respond. You’re probably safe making a couple of illegal turns.

Noticed this on my last trip to San Francisco. Google had me making illegal U-turns in a couple of spots.

Making illegal turns in those areas is hardly your biggest concern

Google maps was programmed as a practical app and just makes suggestions. It’s on you to make the decisions.

I almost hit one the other day. Guy holding a toddler on his lap in Hollygrove. I was cutting to Earhart from Claibourne. He ran right through a stop sign and pulled in front of me. Luckily I was paying attention.
He was riding with a little girl in his lap. Cutting into traffic.

What? No. It's literally marketed as turn by turn software.

That’s why they call it marketing.

I drove in the country a lot and this is the problem I have.

I sure don't miss pulling out a map. Looking at the index of street names. Then finding what grid the street is on. Then finding the street. Then figuring out the address numbering. Then looking for the address.

Just seems like it would be really easy for the GPS to know not to tell people to block traffic to make a turn they shouldn't make.

I've noticed more gridlock on Carrollton lately at the no left turn intersections.

I kind of miss driving while having the map folded and laying over my steering wheel. It made life seem more adventurous.

Oh that killed me in Colorado. I was there in winter riding my rental car on gravel and dirt roads. Also in New Mexico. They have interstate exits where you exit doing 70mph and hit gravel/caliche right away.

I have had this issue a lot lately too. Typically illegal left turns.
