What's the point of a three day weather forecast?

When it says the same thing as the first three days of a 10 day forecast. Couldn't you just have a 10 day forecast and leave it at that with knowledge that the closer it is the more accurate it is?

Usually when you look at a 3 day forecast it displays more detailed information than a 10-day forecast. Like what it will be like in the morning vs the afternoon.

Just in case you only have the room to absorb only 3 days of knowledge.

It’s an homage to the past. In the old days they only had the 3. The weather guys had to go into smoke filled back rooms and bang out a 3 day, sometimes working through the night. Everything was riding on that forecast and if they got it wrong it had actual consequences. It wasn’t unheard of for a weatherman to be beaten in the parking lot of the news channel for a bad miss. Nowadays they just type a few things into the computer and it spits out up to 25 days. There’s no romance in it anymore. The local guys like to keep the 3 day up there as a reminder of when their jobs actually mattered.

Well mine doesn't. It has a hourly forecast that does that 2 days out.

Unless you're Accuweather, then you put out a 60 or 90 day forecast.

I'm more concerned about why the low shown for today doesn't actually occur until tomorrow morning.

Rob Perillo here in Lafayette is wrong at least 50% of the time. Despite that, he could probably run for mayor-president and win in a landslide.

That is so that the weatherman talks for few more minutes so that sports gets short changed.

I can remember a time when sports came before weather.
