You guys saying $50k seem way off. Back in 2002 I was making around 50k living in Phoenix and always felt like I was broke. Living comfortable to me is not worrying about money or bills at all. When the wife and I lived in Charlotte 10 years ago we made 130k to 140k and lived comfortably with no kids. Now that I'm In Baton Rouge I think 150k would allow me and my wife to live comfortably but no save as much as I would want for retirement.
