I drove 100 miles one way (200 round trip) for 9 months while we tried to sell our house in a shitty market after I took a job in BR.

Worst time of my adult life easy. Took about 1:45-2:00 hours each way with traffic. I was miserable.

The most I would ever commit to without some huge incentives would be a 1 hour each way.

Lafayette to Metarie too far?

They'd have to give me at least $150 per night so I can book an Extended Stay place in Metairie so I can stay over multiple times out of the week. Most of the time, I would probably just stay there Monday through Friday and go home on the weekends.

I have about a 75 mile commute each day, one way. Comes about to about an hour without traffic here in Houston. Only thing that makes it doable is the company vehicle.

I do 120mi a day minimum if I don't go see customers. That's the max id ever do for a daily commute. It's on the cusps of being absolutely miserable.

I did this about two years ago due to a promotion and I had still had three months on my lease.

Company paid for my gas, but it eventually shite out the rest of the truck I was driving at the time (Had driven it for about six years through college and out).

It definitely sucked having to drive that far every single day, I honestly don't think I'd be able to do it again unless it was only for a short time or if I got like a big time raise.

Do you enjoy driving is the real question. My dad has gone 80 mins one way for most of his adult life. He enjoys the decompression time. He says it helps with the work life balance. He never came home stressed or bringing work with him because he had ample time driving home to let it go

For a second, forget about the wear and tear on your car and gas. you'd spend 4 hours MINIMUM a day in your car. that's 20 hours a week driving. if you worked 48 weeks a year thats 960 hours of driving a year. Not only no but frick no.

A good amount of time to listen to podcasts and such that you enjoy, since your yelling children make it impossible at the house.

I went from a 12 minute commute to an hour. It hasn't been as bad as I expected. No traffic issues so I guess that helps a ton.
It was way too good of a compensation and benefits package to say no.

That is 1040 hours a year spent in your car commuting to and from work. That is 43 days wasted doing nothing but sitting in traffic per year.

This doesnt include the increased risk of an accident ocurring with you in it.
I worked at pizza hut delivery while going to college and was on the road alot . My only two accidents ,in my lifetime,i got in were while working there and i been driving over twenty years. Knock on wood by the way

I drive an hour each way most days (Houston, and I'm not paying in the loop prices for the type of house I want). It's not that bad seeing as I can get off work at 4, even earlier a lot of times. So I'm home at the same time as my wife. Plus half days on Fridays. It's not bad at all once I got used to it. Only time it sucks is when I have to work late. Leaving at 5 could mean a 2 hour drive. But that's happened like twice over the last year.
