Crawfish was actually cheap last season due to covid... so many events were canceled that there was a huge supply without the demand. At the end of the season late mayish, I was paying 40 bucks a sack (live) from the baws fishing them in the basin.

When you’re in Ackerman, Mississippi, and you really miss them, you’ll pay any price. We paid $7 per pound cooked on Easter weekend, and they were some of the best crawfish we’ve ever had. They should be at that price.

My sister was stationed in San Diego in the mid 1990’s and got all excited when she saw them on the menu—not priced per pound but as an entree at about $20. She thought it was pricey but ordered them anyway. She got 5 crawfish. Not 5 lbs. 5 individual crawfish.

The lowest I can remember paying is $1.99 per lb. cooked.
