What is bullshite about them? frick those people who run red lights.
A few studies have shown that accidents at intersections increased after cameras were installed.
The last one I got was for making a legal right turn on red.
I've never paid any of them. The company didn't even follow up on the last two.

This guy sums it up pretty well
But you're usually one of those "don't do nothin wrong and you won't get in trouble, rights be damned" typed tards. But then probably screams at Obama for raping the constitution

Speaking as a retired state trooper, red light tickets are bullshite. It is a program designed to extort money from the public. In a criminal case, you can go to court and have the officer appear and testify as to the incident. In these kangaroo civil proceedings, a camera can not testify to the circumstances at the time of the alleged violation. The accused has to post a large cash bond to pay for the hearing that is run by a stooge paid by the red light company. I wonder how that will come out. Citizens should recall any elected official that supports this scam. I would not pay, but that's just me.

quote:You are apparently not aware of just how flawed these things are. For starters, not all signals have the same clearance intervals (yellow time plus all-red time). Therefore, a motorists' ability to clear an intersection from the time the light turns yellow is not consistent from place to place. Secondly, someone eking through the intersection at the very beginning of the red indicator is safer than someone who slams on the breaks to stop suddenly. There is actually something called the "dilemma zone", which is a point where you can neither make it through the intersection at the posted speed limit nor brake at a safe rate of deceleration. This is why there is an uptick in the rate of rear-end accidents at monitored intersections. Also, as an above poster mentioned, they issue them for legal right turns on red if the driver doesn't stop and watch for traffic for 3 seconds.
frick those people who run red lights.
Now, if they strictly issued them to blatant red-light runners, who barrel through the intersection well after it has changed, or the cocksuckers who block the intersection because they can't get through, then I would agree with you. But the truth is, the monitored systems issue tickets for harmless, minor infractions that really should be at the discretion of an officer. Yes, I know that officers review the videos, but they don't exercise any judgment whatsoever.

No I see 2-3 cars run the same damn red light every afternoon...and they already have one of the longest left turn arrows in the city.

OK?

I used this thread to vent my frustration for these people. Wasn't really disputing/advocating the monitored system. But I did hear that these cameras could have another benefit and find uninsured motorists. I am all for booting them.

quote:I hear ya. I sit at an intersection every afternoon where 4-5 people run the left-turn signal every time, to the point where we can't go when our light turns green because those sonsofbitches are busy running the light. Pisses me off to no end. Motherfrickers like that need to be put in check, by whatever means necessary.

Wish I could just ram them

Seriously. If I'm at the front of the line, I just start going. Not far enough to get hit, but close enough to make that idiot squirm for a second. Let 'em know whose right-of-way it is...yeah, that'll show 'em.

He nailed it.

I got one too for taking a right on red. You can even see brake lights in the picture. Did not understand why I got it. I'm not going to pay it but it only happened about a month ago.

Isn't the law a complete stop? 3 seconds seems long.
Posted on 6/10/15 at 3:22 pm to secondandshort
It does seem long, but a pause of several seconds is required. I think it's 3, but not 100% sure.

got one today in the mail for a right on red. I'm debating whether I will pay it. As of right now, I am leaning towards not paying.

You all should come try and drive in Africa. You'd never complain about left turn signal runners again.
Posted on 11/21/15 at 10:15 am to Antonio Moss
Yeah. It's a scam. They put the white line way too far back (as in before you even get to the intersection) and then if you cross the white line, then stop at the actual intersection you get a "ticket". Sherwood and Coursey is a prime example of this.
Posted on 11/21/15 at 10:38 am to MikeBRLA
that's where i got it. But it was for a right on red
Posted on 11/21/15 at 10:41 am to Dingeaux
My ticket was also at Sherwood and Coursey for a right on red. I had to pull way up just to see any oncoming traffic and the light went off.
I never paid it. Apparently it was sent off to collections, received a couple of letters from some firm that bought it. I am just waiting it out. If they turn it over to the credit reporting agencies then I will call them and ask for proof that I ever received this ticket and/or that I ever entered into any agreement to pay them. From the research I have done this it is almost always dropped from your credit report.
