Being nicer doesnt mean anything imo. Youre still living away from your own place for a month. Sorry but I have a life also and then I have to mow this frickers lawn and take care of his animals while my house chores pile up an hour away. A grand is getting off easy. If its just the pets, OP can hire a service to come feed them. And a lawn service to mow. Asking a friend to do this is kind of shitty

Agreed. The fact his house is bigger or better means nothing. If I had to watch a house for a month, with animals and it was 1 hour from my house, I'd be pissed. A few hundred dollars would be an insult.

$50 for getting a dog for a month, $450 for having to deal with a cat.

Makes little sense .. A dog is 50 times the maintenance a cat is ..

Good thing I'm not asking a friend then, huh?

Yea a great thing!!!!!

Why not just hire a service to come take care of the animals?

I wasn't arguing with you, just stating what my thought process would be if I was in the cousin's position.

Yea, but dogs are great. A litter box alone is a bigger pita to me than anything I'd have to do for a dog.

Come on man. Scoop some poo and pee for literally 30 seconds a day and youre done with a cat.

Whats going to suck for the cousin is when he has to go do something or get something at his place and has to go back to let little Moofy outside to poop and pee an hour away

I like dogs more than cats .. but cats are a piece of cake to take care of .. They clean themselves .. eat very little, and are quiet .. Change the liter box two or three times a week and that's about it .. You have to walk a dog and/or let them out three times a day to piss and crap .. they eat more .. and require a lot of attention .. You can leave cats alone for days at a time .. you can't do that with a dog ..

$100/week. A 28 year old can always use cash. If he refuses, buy him a gift.

I don't know what it is. We have a cat and a dog, and the extra effort for the dog seems more worth it than the minimal maintenance of the cat. Only in the pet world is a bitch preferable to a pussy, for me.

100 a week sounds fair to me. Especially if you're trying to get him to mow your lawn and all that other shite.

Taking advantage of him because he is family is a sure fire way to not have anyone help you next time you leave town.

You must have missed the part where I said I was under a time constraint here. My sis-in-law was originally going to take care of the animals at her house but some medical issues arose. It's kind of short notice to line up a lawn and pet service.

And I'm not boarding my dog and cat for a month because a) the cost is high and b) they'd be cooped up in a pen a majority of the day.

Word. I can leave on Friday afternoon and go out of town and come back Monday and my two cats are just fine. Leave out extra food and water and extra litter boxes. Its like I never left.

With our dog, we have to come back that same night or have someone watch her.

I just feel like I should pay him a little something. As far as eating my food, we're leaving Friday and have known about it for a while so the cupboard ain't going to be as stocked as it normally would be.

My sister-in-law was going to keep the pets until a couple of days ago when some unforeseen medical issues came up. It's just easier now at the last minute to have the cousin house sit.
