WBR was included in the Aug 2016 disaster dec.

Then they were added later which likely means they are primarily getting reimbursed for providing assistance to other parishes as opposed to receiving funding for repairs

Many years ago when I was getting my real estate license, I was told that it wasnt built up bc the school system wasnt good. Hopefully that changes soon bc its a pretty nice area.

As for the far north side, it’s still and always will be country, and the natives want to keep it like that.

As a resident of this area. Yes, this is how we want it to stay.

Anything less than two acres should not be allowed. Still feels tiny.

Reason I'm trying to buy more land is to keep my area as is for as long as I can. As soon as the schools get going on the north side, the area will blow up

Truth. The elementary schools are good. Brusly High is decent. Port Allen HS sucks ,like all public schools in this state.

Most folks I know that have kids send them to private schools in EBR.

Did they start building the new Chamberlin-Devall school yet?

Absolutely but I’d make it a minimum of 4 acres and one residence per 4 acre tract.

But with school bonds approved for building/remodeling schools and a bump in millage for teacher salaries, IF (IF) managed properly, the schools should improve as a whole

I saw a month back or so, the school board put a billboard up by Essen for folks heading west advertising jobs.

The system “as a whole” has gotten better in the last 2 years. The brusly schools are carrying the parish.

PA Elem, Chamberlin and Devall we’re always average.

But PA Middle, High and Cohn is very very rough.

Me and my cousins all went to EBR private schools or CHS-PC

Yes. Started on the ground work

No foundation as the last I saw, but worked on drainage and grading

Oh I’m sure they’ll address the schools as they no it’s an impediment to growth. But all the money in the world won’t change our education system. Not enough support from the parents with their own kids at home.

IMO.

Holy Family seems to have a solid rep as an elementary school from what I hear.

Maybe in PA and that "rough" area, but by us and all the creoles? I think there is more support. I think that's why Chamberlain is not crap like PA high

Truth, we are probably a couple miles max apart, but I prefer anonymity as much as possible

If you read the thread, you’ll see you just need to traverse the bridge opposite of traffic and it’s not that bad. (If your job allows it)

I do (wasn't me) but I don't see your point.

As someone said, we are going the opposite of the rush each day. If the new bridge is ever backed up, I have i110 right there that can take me to the old bridge or, for dooms day, take me to the much loathed, but beautiful, Audubon bridge that really only adds 20-30 minutes that would've been spent in traffic anyway.

Eastbound is gridlocked in the afternoon, I go westbound.

HF is decent. I remember most of the kids that’s from out there that went to catholic schools went to.

HF
Catholic-PC
Sacred Heart
St Gerard Majella
St Francis Xavier

All ended up at Redempt. And some went to CHS/SJA.

Talk about fun carpools.
