what needs conducting on a coal train?
Someone has to watch for signals, make sure the train is in compliance, make sure all the slow orders are followed, communicate with dispatch, communicate with maintenance of way crews working on track and time, there's a lot of shite you do.

Despite engines being largely computer operated, they still have to “conduct” general operations. Like supervise crews operating switches, uncoupling/coupling cars, etc.

Your sensitivity has me thinking you're into nefarious and illegal human trafficking via train. Do you like pizza by chance?

My brother was a conductor once and made more than that.
It's above the median. Good solid job if a guy can get it.
Lots of liberal arts majors crying about student loans and no jobs should check it out

He just shovels coal or other fuels on the train. Pretty easy to understand.

shite like PTC and trip optimser fail a lot more often than people think. And usually only GE trains have TO.

Basically, it's a safe space to discuss the kinds of topics that are usually only found on coast to coast am. There's a lot of trolling, a lot of tongue-in-cheek, but also a lot of fun and interesting discussion buried in there. Sometimes, it's fun to ask weird questions and imagine what could be possible if things we take for granted to be true turned out not to be. It's always wacky, but I find it entertaining at times. Granted, The first 1000 pages were way more fun than it's become now.
As for what Q is specifically:
Q is an anonymous poster on 8 Chan who claims to be in Trump's inner circle that is allegedly giving somewhat of a forecast/play by play of Trump's clandestine power struggle against entrenched government employees seeking to oust him from office. Q supposedly "proves" his legitimacy by sending out quotes in his messages that then show up in tweets by the president, Department of Defense, and branches of the military soon there-after. The biggest "proof" being Q saying there would be a peace summit between Trump and Kim Jong Un in Singapour about 3-4 months before it was announced.
Most of the crazy stuff in the thread are not direct quotes from Q but wild speculation on things Q has said, things Q has seen, or people trying to tie things mentioned by Q to old wacky conspiracies from Art Bell on Coast to Coast AM.
I think too often, people read too much into things or try to stretch too far to attribute things to Q. Parts of the Q thread conspiracy is obvious (there is clearly a behind the scenes power struggle between Trump and other members of the federal government both elected and unelected), but much of it is a massive stretch that is going to require a whole lot more proofs (i.e. people getting arrested) to be convincing.
I continue keeping up with it since I find it interesting, but I have zero faith in any of it turning out to be true. If not, it's a fun entertaining read that's worth the 5-10 minutes a day I give it.

This dude thinks reptilian people are orchestrating earthquakes and tornadoes. Hating on him for doing honest the work doesn’t seem like the lowest hanging fruit.

Working strictly in the yard is about 70k. Working the road you'll easily crack 100k. Heck the pre 85 guys make way more than that on BNSF.

That’s fair, and I apologize to every sane person doing this and making a life for themselves.

Another thread derailed with this idiot talking about his job at the railroad. Nobody cares.

It's more like a loadmaster for freight.
