We used to have a bookie come by our work with football cards back when I was in college. Most people would fill out a couple of bets maybe a couple of parlays. I didn't have enough money to really gamble so I used to just pick huge parlays and put $1, sometimes $5, on them.

One weekend I put $5 on a 12 team parlay. I got 11/12, frick you New England. Which still paid out 100-1. So I won $500.

My brother suggested I put the winnings in the stock market and buy a bunch of shares of the company he worked for. I think I got the stock for less than a buck or something. The stock started dropping and finally I jumped ship when it fell to like $0.27. Put what I had left in some stupid penny stock and watched it disappear.

Years later the stock was trading around 30 something dollars.

Would have been a nice $5 investment.

When I was younger we used to play monopoly for money. This was middle school, so we didn't put up much.. Probably a dollar or something.

I bet a friend $500 that the Saints would win the Super Bowl entirely because of the episode of South Park where Cartman dresses up as the Awesome-o 3000 and predicted the saints would win it.

I have no idea. But I can tell you the safest bet I ever made: $200 on LSU -17 vs. Texas A&M this past year. I just wish I had bet more. There was no way LSU wasn't going to spank that Aggie arse and mercy on them was not an option.

10 - 1 odds Georgetown to beat Villanova

I'm not saying some local BM didn't give you that number back in 1985. But, I am suspect on it.

I picked Nova outright in that game(granted a biased Philly sports Phanatic), thought a huge overlay, had seen em play Gtown off their arse three times prior. They had the mojo, were out to win one for the Gipper(old coach Jake Nevin), plus had visited a young fan in the hospital on an ESPN segment, karma was with them. I hyped my old man to make a five dime play +9.5, and a dime on the money line(which 9.5 equates to -400/+300). The game went OTB at post-time at -8(which equates to -360/+280).

Just recently rewatched the game two weeks ago on YouTube(search Perfect Upset)

This has been my computer screensaver the last seven years..
