Air from a compressor with a dryer on it will be just as effective a Nitrogen. its the moisture that causes the swings, not the air itself. normal air is 3/4 nitrogen already
Yeah, the ideal gas law doesn't care what the gas in question is. You could fill your tires with Neon and it'd be the same as Nitrogen.
But when you introduce water vapor the equation, it can condense out and cause larger swings than pure gas. Air has typically less than 1% water vapor though so the difference is minimal.

Duh!
It weighs less and makes your car go faster!!

Wrong, you want heavier tires for more pressure on the ground and more traction/control. Oxygen had an atomic number of eight but nitrogen has an atomic number of nine (hence the name nitrogen). Heavier element means better control and faster cars. Ideally we would fill our tanks with kryptonium but that would be far too expensive.

Would 32lbs of Helium weigh less than 32lbs of Nitrogen?

More stable during temperature swings.

Are good in racing applications. (no pressure change due to temp).
I cant see it being very beneficial in a DD. M

We have pretty frequent, large swings of temps here. I could see how it would be aggravating for someone running a lower pressure

I had one damn tire on one of my Vettes that would always lose 3-4# the first time it got cold.
I woulda tried nitrogen in that one to see if it worked.

nothing

The place I get my tires from only uses nitrogen. When I used to off-road a lot, I would just fill them with my compressor, and I did notice bigger fluctuations

and the faster you go the more gas you save

Oxygen bars do more for you than nitrogen does for your tires.
It's really a load of bullshite, because the only places with nitrogen are dealerships. Which charge you $35 to refill. Also, once they lose a pound of pressure the sensor goes off and will not stop until you add more. I had the nitrogen drained out and had O2 put in. Can't stop the sensor though, because it shares a fuse.

That I can't air them myself and have to take it to the tire store. fricking pain in the arse.
