Just wondering if anyone knows what's going on with that building on the corner of West Chimes and Alaska Street near LSU. This was the nice apartment with the rooftop pool they built about 4 years ago before the nicholson gateway expansion. I lived there the first 2 years it was around and it has always been a mess. It opened a few months late and then was quickly sold to another developer. After I left school someone told me that it was condemned and sure enough when I went back to LSU for games there's fencing all around the place. It looks like its been sold again to some company named Ion.

I was wondering if anyone else knows what happened to it in the last couple of years and why it was condemned and sold again?

Yes, another company has purchased it and they're in the process of assessing structural deficiencies so they know what needs to be fixed.

Still don’t understand the need for so many new complexes being built monthly in the area. Sooner or later, they will become mixed income and shite will really hit the fan.

Somehow the completion of that building was way behind schedule, but it was so shitty it was like they built the whole thing in a week.

Sister was about to move in there but they have to go through like very expensive renovations due to structural integrity and excess mold and bacteria

Structural issues and moisture bearer issues which caused mold problems...
Basically they have to gut it and redo the whole outside water proofing and structural issues..... hate to be the original GC on the project... lots of suits going to be filed... bunch of people got sick from the mold

Looks like it is coming back on line this August

How do you pay $108M for a building and not have it structurally inspected?
