That's why I hate moms who carry little bottles of hand sanitizer and are constantly wiping it on their kids hands.

People look at me crazy when I pass the hand sanitizer thing for shopping carts.

I like earning new germ badges. I am sort of a collector.

I was trying to convey 2 messages

#1 as you get older your immunity dwindles
#2 real phobia is not usually correlated with reality

Agreed!

1) Allow for mild exposure to germs to develop natural resistance to disease/illness.

And not mild exposure either, I like massive exposure.

let him eat dirt like my mom did and then hose him off. This helicopter parents that don't let their kids interact with germs are fricking nuts. Their kids are going to be sickly their whole lives.

And drink out of the hose!

I know one person who would disinfect the bar of soap if they could figure out how.....Alway sick any time any bug comes around.

I get sick once a year and 1 gallon of OJ kills whatever it may be within 36-48 hours.

Hot Toddy, sauna, and unisom fixes it all for me.

Sit in a sauna at the gym for 30 minutes with a gatorade.

Then go home, make a cup of hot green tea (or any tea) filled 3/4ths in the cup, 2 shots of Makers Mark, teaspoon of local honey, and a lemon wedge.

Swallow a couple Unisom with that.

Sleep sweat it out of your system.

Exactly!

Give me all your germs while I'm still young and healthy.

I mean I understand new variants of bacteria and virus pop up almost every day but shite I'd rather have half the schematic than none.

I ate a LOT of dirt as a child (practically lived at the baseball park).

I have almost zero allergies and very rarely get sick, no more than once a year.

As you age you become a more aware of germs as the common cold has a higher probability of killing you. Phobia is based on fear more than reality. If you have never been robbed the fear might be a phobia but if you have been robbed say half a dozen times what may appear to be a phobia is actually based in reality.
This feels like something a drunk girl at the fraternity house would tell me at like 2:00 AM.

Germs are both viruses and bacteria. Bacteria, especially, are critical in a healthy body's functioning. An average person has ten pounds of bacteria performing different tasks throughout his body.

These ten pounds have six times as many bacteria as there are cells in the body. Bacteria are much smaller than human cells.

It's the pathogenic bacteria that we have to worry about. They're the ones that we have to build up immunity to or avoid entirely.

Too many people try the latter option, avoidance. This can be problematic for the immune system. Ordinary pathogenic germs such as Staphylococcus aureus, which are always around but kept under control by our immune systems, can colonize a body that hasn't built up a resistance to it over time.

That's why it's so important to let kids play in the dirt and socialize actively with other children. The more exposure they have as youths, the fewer health problems they'll have as adults.

Exposure to germs at an early age. The U.S. has a very high incidence of colds and other ailments because we have so much sanitized cleaners and obsessions with germs in this country. Totally out of control with the fear mongering by soap countries. People's kids... especially in cities... don't get exposed to germs nearly enough. Take young kids that have been living in a sanitized world and run them through the airport and a plane one time. Watch them get sick.

This is the way to go. Although, my 2 year old licked the sand at the beach this weekend. Not sure what he was thinking there.
