Somebody told me Honda and Toyota fit different people differently and it’s best to test drive both and see which better fits you. Not sure how accurate that advice is but it sounds like it makes sense.

I’ve owned both and vote Camry. The Accord was a beautiful deep blue color and I actually got compliments on the looks of the car. But then the clear coat started peeling. At 90,000 miles, the car would randomly just die occasionally. The dealer told me it was because of carbon buildup in the valves from bad gas. Yeah, okay. Bought a Camry. Never got a compliment on its looks but drove it without any issues for almost 10 years and traded it in.

Id own another one, and i wouldn't steer anybody against it. Its an immensely capable off road car. The only serious issue it had, coolant control valve, was warrantied outside the bumper to bumper and an extended warranty given on the replacement so that was cool.
Its just got some goofy tendencies and some of the nanny stuff as failed early on. Eyesight problems and one other sensor problem. Damn thing locked up the brakes on the interstate once. If it weren't for all that stuff I'd buy one for my commuter / hunting rig.

Look for a gently used Avalon or ES350. All of the bells and whistles, V6 and will run forever. $25k might be tight though.
If I had to choose I’d go Camry b/c Honda isn’t what it used to be.

Although the Civic hybrid is new for 2025, if you fit into it and you need a commuter, it's probably an even better choice than an Accord or Camry.
Personally, I'd get the Accord. The interior is nicer (although the exterior is painfully dull) and it's got tons of room.

Whichever has a timing chain and not belt. Most 4 cylinder Hondas have a chain. Their v6 still a belt.
I think all camrys are now chains.

That's what I'd get then. Whoever has a stickshift on the market is always my lead choices for a commuter car.
You’d enjoy the civic SI model then…

I have a 2010 ES350 I've put 160k on in ten years, never an issue. Absolutely sold on Toyota

Honda hasn’t offered a V6 in the Accord in about 10 years.
I had an ‘06 Accord that I’d still be driving if I hadn’t totaled it hitting Bambi. It had a V6 and when I got the replacement in 2019 I was told only Acura had V6s then (for about $15K more). So I got the 2.0 turbo and I love it. Plenty of power when needed. I’ll only own Hondas for a travel car from now on.

Why not Civic or Corolla?
My 2018 Civic is as big as my 03 Accord was. Civics are probably even bigger now though I haven't looked into it.

Accords are top 10 cars across all brands and models. Also safest in class. Camry is a really good car, too.
