Completely justifiable action on his part. He passed away from old age. Didn't go to jail IIRC.

30 years after the fact and difficult to understand because of stroke damage , Gary was asked if he had any regrets… loud and clear he replied
“If I could dig him up… I would shoot him again”
Gary was sentenced to probation and a few hundred hours of community service, some say he got off with a light sentence , I say it was cruel and unjust punishment, the man deserved a medal
