Blue bayou was never the most state of the art place to go. But it had plenty to do and tried to innovate with new rides. Then the ghetto came, and down it went.

I never got to go even when I was a kid. Couldn’t tell you what it was like.

Apparently when we were kids somebody left a floater in a pool at Disney World resort. So my parents never agreed to let me go. That ruined my Blue Bayou experience as a child.

The Blue Bayou website says they are closed due to direct order of JBE.

Did they close down?
They did not open in 2020 due to Covid. It's not like the place is boarded up with a "For Sale" sign. It would be closed this time of year anyway.

I don’t think he moved away. Last I heard he was living in CCL and looks like he is still living there

Strange- I was wondering this same question as I passed it the other day. I look forward to the bidding war

They didn’t move away. Sam Haynes owns it and his daughter runs it. He still does a lot of the work and he’s got to be 80. He owns Haynes Truck Lines and it stays busy running containers out of the Port of New Orleans.

The land he owns goes well behind Home Depot across the railroad tracks. You can see back there now with the foliage down. And he bought the adjacent Kleinpeter land to the park. That guy has more money than Roosevelt.

He lives less than a mile away. His daughter lives a couple miles away.

I'd honestly peg it around the real estate value plus scrap. Maybe $750,000?

What are the odds that will ever be a functioning amusement park again? Any premium beyond that should be very limited.

You would honestly be wrong.

First they have been doing amusement parks since 1960, second they have tons of money and other ventures, third they like doing amusement parks and regardless of the skin color coming in the gate it’s a cash cow. They can sit on that thing and let it rust forever should they want if governor moron tells them they have to.

Not to mention the probably 500 plus acres they own across the street. You can’t put a dollar figure on that kind of land at Highland and I-10.

And they could sell the rides for $750k which is what most parks do. The Hot Shot came from Pensacola.

Yeaaa, read that whole thing and I have a Finance background. Still in awe that someone would do all this for fun or on a whim of a crowd sourced venture capital endeavor.
