I never understood why people equated bad shite happening with there being no God.

In 9th grade history class we studied the history of religion. Seeing how the different religions started and propogated was a real eye opener. Everything about religion is entirely human.

Not sure if you've seen Bill Maher's "Religiosity" documentary but it touches on the many similarities between completely unaffiliated religions. I think you'd enjoy watching it if you can find it.

People underestimate how much their perception of reality is dictated by cultural constructs. Psychedelics break that down. I realized humans were really, truly animals while examining my teeth in the mirror while tripping on mushrooms.

The way to Math works makes me think the way one theorem coincides with another when it has no reason to. Why does the integral just happened to be the antiderivative? Why does e show up in everything for no good reason. There are many cosmological constants that if they were slightly different life couldn't exist

If you believe science has or will have all the answers to everything you believe something that can't be proved and can't be demonstrated and science has become your religion

Imagine you are driving your car along the road and you have a passenger form another country that has no electricity. You point to the power lines and tell the person that electricity is flowing through those power lines and it is powerful enough to kill the person. The person will look at you as if you are insane. Why? The person does not know what electricity means. Does that mean that electricity does not exist?

I am 100% convinced there is a God.
The problem with most people who believe there is no God, is that they are trying to understand God from a human perspective. We are NOT a god, so our ability to understand God is severely limited.
There are so many mysteries surrounding God that a person can become overwhelmed or give in to their human deficiencies and take the easy way out by saying, "There is no God.", which couldn't be further from the truth.

A person who truly desires the truth will seek. In their seeking they will "find" God; that is, He will slowly reveal Himself to the person seeking.
If one is not interested in the truth, one will not seek, and one will not believe that God exists. To believe God does not exist one has to believe that everything happened by chance. It takes far more faith to believe that everything in the universe happened by chance. What are the odds of everything happening by chance? To me this is harder to believe than believing that God exists and He created everything for a reason and placed everything were it is, not by chance. What are the odds?
It is obvious that everything in the universe could not have happened by chance because the odds are impossible, incalculable.
It is obvious that nothing can move its self; therefore, something had to be the first mover of the first object. Also, nothing can be created from nothing; therefore, there had to be a first Creator, this is who we call God.
God does exist. If you do not believe, then be silent for 5 minutes each day, and say, "Speak Lord, your servant is listening.", then listen silently. Write down whatever comes into your mind and heart. God speaks very softly.
After a week review what you have written.

Math is the only language we have to explain consistencies in time, space, DNA, quantum mechanics, geology, even psychology.

Math is man-made. That could potentially mean this place, or thing, we live in is man-made (or AI).

I don't believe this fully but I do think it's a more logical explanation than some imaginary deity chilling up in the sky stopping feverish kids from snoring.

I appreciate you sharing your feelings and thoughts but this thread isn't for you to try to discount or shame those who don't buy the bullshite that you believe. There's another thread for you to share your Christian experiences.

I realized around 30 years ago that all the praying in the world doesn’t make a damn bit of difference when my grandmother was murdered by her own son (my uncle). She was a very devout church-going woman who busted her arse her entire life and whose life revolved around her faith. Didn’t make a damn bit of difference.

Then around 15 years ago, I was out of work for a month when I broke my hand racing motocross. I spent a lot of time during that period on message boards and got heavily involved in evolution debates and started researching evolution, the bible, religions, etc. Finally admitted to myself at that point that I was an atheist.

Then you're not thinking hard enough. Reality is irreconcilable with the idea of an omnipotent, benevolent god.

It's obvious humans are animals, you don't need psychedelics for that.

One of the most common experiences on psychedelics is you lose your sense of self your ego your sense of separateness and realize you are actually connected to everything alive

When my maw maw died and people tell you it’s all part of God’s plan and she’s in a better place.
No she isn’t in a better place and this was a stupid plan.
On top of that, there’s no such thing as magic, and I’m not following an acient religion created by the most illogical and radical group of human beings in that shithole of the Middle East where pretty much all religion originated from.
Religion exists to control people and make money, and followers need it b/c they need to believe there is an afterlife.

What's always puzzled me is, of all the great miracles that jesus did, where is the monuments or the statues or the anything for that matter. Ghengis Khan killed 100s of thousands and he has a statue. Jesus walked on water, ame back to life and fed 100s with basket of fish and there is nothing. Just an observational opinion

The question of origin is just as valid for a deity as it is for non-conscious physical forces/matter. You believe in god because you don't think well.
