This has to be it. Plus, it hosted the Olympics...even though...so many years before they won bid to get it in '96

Im decided Im going to argue that Austin in the 90's was the start of a cultural phenomenon

Bush was gonna be the next President,, Austin hippies weidness thing .. they figured out how to make money HUGE money in development

Austin is the new Rome

Seattle. Microsoft, Starbucks, and Nirvana.

Not sure I’d Houston was iconic for 70’s. Would have said L.A.

I think the 90's were definitely New York. As mentioned before it was a revitalized city and had a 10 year run that was fantastic. Amazing time to be there. Energy on the streets all the time.

I would say Los Angeles had the 70s. Houston was never a cultural point of energy EVER. Oil is all it has ever had going for it as a culture driver.

but the Houston becoming the economic power that it was now the 4th largest city in the country it signified the power shift of the country to the South

a significant part of the power it's a lot more than oil

Houstons Connected-set had a good run from Reagan thru W

the investment paid off

Houston is the right answer for the 70’s. Plus you had the oilers in late 70’s take the country by storm

Is this like the MVP award where voters get tired of giving it to the same guy too often. Because it’s NYC every decade.

I would say NYC but using the MVP criteria, I would say Seattle because of the first half of the decade.

Memphis was doomed in the 80’s with the changing demographics of Whitehaven.
