I know Gina Green was left in her home on Stanford.

That was my cousin's roommate. When it happened I was too young to understand, so I don't think my parents ever told me then, but I found out in the coming years with the trial.

Where along Stanford was her home? I'd imagine it's occupied by now.

Why would these white women invite a massive black man who they did not know into their homes?

Once the door was open that was all the "invitation" he needed.

That's kind of what I was guessing. From what it sounds like, once he decided he wanted you, you were going to end up dead in one way or another.

IIRC it was before Morning Glory. But I was no older than 10 at the time so I couldn't tell you for sure.

not very far (maybe 100 yards or so) after you turn off of Perkins. Try 2151 Stanford on google street view.

At the time of the murder. Murray Pace lived 3 houses down. She had just moved into the house on Sharlo ave.

Just found it. She lived just off of Perkins. I figured she was closer towards the lakes than that.

I was 11 or 12 when all of this was going down and I just remember always freaking the frick out everytime I was in the car with my parents and a white truck pulled up next to us at a stop light.

Yep, just found that. That's fricking creepy. I never knew this until now. I know death does not bother some people, but knowing it was the site of a serial killer's murder would freak me out enough to move away even if I lived next door.

The Murray Pace aspect is even creepier.

It's about four houses down from Marigold.

Yeah I guess I'm a couple years younger than you then. I can remember my mom buying pepper spray for the 1st time, along with every other woman in BR.

I could be confusing some of the details but I do know that one of the victims was a friend/roommate of my cousin. I'll need to ask my parents about it to remember exactly what happened.

I passed by DTL's old house in St Francisville the other day and noticed people were living there too.

Yea I was also like 10 when this was going on and not fully understanding what was going on. I too was on the lookout for white trucks haha and I lived in Hammond.

Yeah, we lived in the area and my mom and all of our female neighbors quickly bought those mace key rings.

My sister lived in the house on Stanford a few years after the murder took place. I don't think she knew when she moved in what exactly happened there.

It was creepy being there after we found out.

So I just googled. I remember this, but I also remember it being before it was really on my radar, so to speak. Wikipedia said he had an IQ in the 60s that led to some contention about his trial. How much did that factor in to the equation?

pepper spray became the most popular key chain accessory.

a cook where i worked was brought in for questioning. he drove a white pick up and looked a lot like the sketch going around. police weren't that polite to him to say the least. felt bad for him. he left columbia because of threats and harassment. he was a journalist and received death threats for stories he wrote from police and state officials.
