What was LSU like during Derek Todd Lee's reign of terror?

I was too young to really understand the atrocious acts committed by Lee during his reign of terror, but I'm currently reading a book about him, and I honestly never knew he was snatching victims from around LSU. Places I pass every day he was stalking.

I remember hearing about him quite often as a kid but never cared or worried. I couldn't imagine living in the city as a white male in a white truck or having a daughter at LSU during that time period. Scary shite.

Had my gf call me every night she got home and locked the door.

It was pretty high strung around the area

Have to imagine it sucked if you drove a white truck.

So I'm guessing they knew it was a white truck and originally thought it was a white male, just because most serial killers are white males?

A witness in an 18 wheeler reported seeing a white male in a white truck with one of the victims near the Whiskey Bay exit where her body was later found. They had a police sketch and everything.

Just found this little tidbit. Jesus Christ.

Wasn't Sean Gillis dabbling with murder around the same time?

Yep, fun times were had in BR with two serial killers roaming around the LSU area.

Think the original description was of a white male. I do know of someone who had to answer a lot of questions because of his truck and he matched some other areas.

As for LSU it was intense because there really seemed to be no rhyme or reason. I would drive to LSU to escort my wife and sone classmates from late classes, usually let out around 9/10:00

It was crazy because for the longest time, it was white male in white truck. Then all of the sudden it changed to black male, a couple of days later we learned he was in Georgia and then he was caught the next day.

Just realized they didn't get DTL until '03, I started at LSU in '04.

A girl I used to frick around with lived in Sharlo in '02-'03, I remember hearing that some of his victims were taken in the Sharlo area.

Didn't match a lot of the criteria that was originally on the FBI profile.

I can't even imagine how terrifying it was to be a woman at LSU during this time. Throw in the fact that he was literally plucking them out of TigerLand's backyard, there had to be some major fear running through the area.

Yep. At least one was taken straight off of Stanford, too. He was literally skirting LSU's campus.
