Grew up in a small town in Illinois. It was boring, but never got in trouble. Had parties out in a field. Would travel 30 minutes to Champaign to hit the bars (back then, you could get in and drink somehow). Had 29 in my graduating class and 120 in the whole high school.

Born and raised in Thibodaux. It was cool enough, and I could conceivably move back if it were conducive to my job (it's not). It has its ups and downs for sure and like most places it is what you make of it. I miss the calmness, the community, the slower pace, following high school football, easy access to BR/NOLA as well as fishing in Leevill/Fourchon/Grand Isle. I do NOT miss the stupid bullshite (it's like high school for the rest of your life), the relative lack of variety in terms of "going out," everyone knowing your business (and you knowing theirs), etc....
That said I live in a city now and it has its pluses and minuses as well.
IMO put me in a city or small town, just don't put me in a suburb (worst of both worlds IMO).

The stars are brighter, people more genuine, slower pace, community pride, football Friday nights, no traffic to deal with, graduate last in your class could still be #30.
Tallahassee and Mobile are technically small towns.

Grew up in a small town. It was great. Not sure you could have the same experience now due to meth.

Think Varsity Blues, but less Texan & more Cajun

Not all small towns are the same. I grew up in a town of about 3k, and although I had the small town feel growing up, even at 40 miles out we were so connected to NOLA that we had a city feel also. My first 2 years of highschool were 45 mins from my house but 10 mins from the superdome. We rode 4-wheelers and played in the woods as kids, but spent a shite load of time in "the city" also.
