What to do for 40th birthday

My 40th birthday is coming up and looking for ideas. $1000 would be the highest unless it is a complete can't miss opportunity. It will be my wife and I and a few friends. We thought about cruises. It will be late January. Thanks!

My 40th birthday I had a virus and puked all day while it rained. And then we found out that same day that our beloved high school basketball coach was leaving ... my son was devastated.

I don't believe flying will be an option unless we can get a cheap air fair and the rest of the trip would balance out. So no Vegas.
