Few things have given me greater satisfaction in the last few years than returning all of the Cox equipment to them and explaining why I was doing it.
I’ve had limited issues with bill creep since then, and none approaching the scale of what Cox tried, more than once.
My last phone conversation with one of their guys went like this:
Harahanian: “I missed the cutoff date of the premium package I have, and my bill bounced up to $225. I’ll pay that, but I want to cut off all the premium movie channels.”
Cox: “Well that’s only going to bring your bill down to $215.”
Harahanian: “My bill was $150 before I took your movie package. If you’re telling me it’s going to be $215 for the same thing, 10 months later, you’re telling me you don’t want me as a customer. I’ll return your equipment this week.”

Ah yes, the Cox "temporary outage... in your area". That's BS, as I discovered the hard way. If you call in to inquire about your service going out, they automatically put that on your account, even if the outage is limited to only YOUR HOUSE.
I had the same problem, got the same message, called all neighbors to see if this outage was indeed in my "area". Nobody else had an outage. I had a bad power strip that my modem was plugged into.

You did troubleshooting after the fact?

Nah, it was just intermittent, and after trusting the "outage in your area" claim, I didn't go looking until a few days into the intermittent outages.
But I was amazed that they put that message on my account based solely on my own reporting of my own outage.

The only one with problems here is the guy paying over $300 a month of internet, tv, and phone.

You should try google WiFi routers. I pay $80/month for 75 download/25upload and have multiple smart TVs, security cameras, security system, two smart phones, an iPad, and a desktop with an internet-based phone system that I use for work and literally NEVER have any problems. Before getting google WiFi, I had expensive routers and extenders all over my home and property and still had very spotty coverage and strength. Google WiFi pucks solved the problem in an instant without increasing my service speed.

How much is that for porn ppv movies?
Reminds me of Howard Stern when they ripped Artie for his Cable bill.
