I order item. I receive item. Item is not correct. Initiate return with Amazon. Amazon says no problem, here's the UPS label, when it is received you'll be refunded.
The next day, I get an Amazon message in broken English from the seller asking me to hold off on returning it because the address is wrong and they want to arrange pickup.
"Dear Deeprig9,
I am so sorry for the troubles caused you. I total understand your complain and the refund will be made. Please I just need one favor, can you hold the product until we arrange pickup because the return address is not correct. Thanks"

Ignore email & use Amazon label
As soon as it is scanned by UPS you should get refund email

Lol yea you got scammed. Report to Amazon through the app

That is strange how an interloper would have been tipped off to your return though.

Does seem like a scam I would notify Amazon about it

Hi, I work for the Amazon. Just send me your credit card info and SS# and I'll clear up for you. I only charge #10.00 USD. (ha-ha)

Is it possible the address they deliver from is different than the return address ? So they don’t want you to mail it back to the same place they have registered?

They contacted me through Amazon, they did not email me directly. So I think it is the true seller, just wondering if the address is incorrect why they wouldn't fix that with Amazon instead of me.

Colorado business.
Came from Germany.
Return address is a US Amazon warehouse.

Judging by the grammar, that is somebody right here on the OT

Yeah but if it’s open or defective they don’t want you sending it back to Amazon, they want it directly.
Like if you buy a lawn mower from Home Depot that has a defective part, you aren’t supposed to contact Home Depot you need to contact the manufacturer.
I’m not saying this is the issue, just a possibility.

Either way, sounds like the seller's responsibility, not yours. I would just proceed as normal.

Do the return through the proper channels at Amazon. Doing anything else, even if legit from the seller, opens you up to possibly not get the refund.
It would also depend on how much money we are talking.

seller desperate to save cost getting it returned directly to them instead of back to Amazon warehouse
Amazon liquidates all those returns (depending on item) so sellers get pennies on the dollar. If they get it back they can resell it for more or save the cost from having to get it shipped back from you to Amazon to them and then back to Amazon, etc
Just my hunch

Keep an eye on Amazon.
I recently ordered a $100 Spyderco knife and got only the empty box.
They credited me but they have a problem with internal theft at their fulfillment centers.
I ended up re-ordering it from a dedicated knife shop the second time.

Scam Step#1: You buy cheap stuff online.
Scam Step#2: Seller places order for your stuff with stolen credit card, ships stuff to you.
Scam Step #3: You pay scammer for stuff. You are happy and ignorant.
Scam Step #4: Credit card owner complains about fraudulent charge.
Scam Step #5: Credit card company accepts losses, refunds credit card holder.
Result: You’re happy, cc holder is happy, scammer is happy. Cc company is not happy with the loss, but can so easily pass on the cost of losses, they’re happy. Everybody wins and everybody loses.

It’s a scam. Only use the return label that Amazon sent you if you want your money back. frick the seller/scammer. Don’t go out of your way to help them.
I’m guessing seller will send you their address and then claim you never sent it, Amazon sees that you never returned item with their shipping label and you don’t get a refund, and the seller gets their item back so they can use it again in a different scam.

How was the item incorrect? To me that says scam or not? Did they send the wrong item, something cheaper? Or is it possible it was an actual mistake like a blue shirt instead of the same teal shirt?

Electric razor was Used, which was supposed to be New. Secondly, it had EU plug instead of US plug, was not mentioned in the listing. It was a colorado based business I had no reason to need to check the plug type in the listing. It was a model that the OT recommended to me recently, and none of yall mentioned the plug type either. Just odd and scammy.
