Open reel tape recorders should come back.
They are making a niche comeback though only one manufacturer makes new ones now and the Ballfinger decks run from about $11k to $30k.
Used ones are starting to bring a premium, especially the Otari and Technics decks. I should say all of them are bringing a premium because with pre-recorded tapes at ~$200 a pop and very limited in diversity the people buying them are willing to pay serious money for a quilty R2R in great shape.
I don't see a vinyl level revival ever happening but if you are interested in going the Marsellus Wallace route for your analog front end the option is there. One thing R2R is missing that vinyl has (outside legacy and new releases) is that turntables are a gear sluts dream. You can spend anywhere from $200 to over $500,000 on a turntable/tonearm and cartridge then tweak and accessorize for the rest of your life.

I remember that feature. What was the utility? Not using up your minutes just to talk to someone within line-of-sight distance?

I've had a hard on for that Ballfinger machine for a while now. The one to get is the top model which is all direct drive has a shuttle control.
There are two others one of which is Analog Audio Designs
This picture looks like one of the better I have found.\
Get the lotion ready.
If I ever come into a large sum of money that Ballfinger machine is something I will buy.

Knobs, dials and buttons on a car dash board. I absolutely hate touch screens in cars. Going through a touch screen to crank the AC or change the radio is awful. Less digital, more manual in cars.
In fact other than the blind spot warning I would pretty much give back all new car tech over the last 20 years and happily drive a circa 2000 car.

Highly annoying not to mention dangerous.
OUr cars have both touch screen and manual knobs for the same functions. I bet any car we buy in the future won't have both.

I’m currently driving a 2010 model car that has no touch screen just a clean dashboard. I’ve looked at a few new cars and I’m just so turned off by the large touch screens on new cars. It’s nearly impossible to find a decent new car without a built in touch screen.
I would also like to go back to physical tickets for events. When I want to offer/send tickets to a pelicans game or some other event to a client or friend I hate having to ask “do you have the ____ ticket app?”

The whole touch screen interface is an excellent way to make a car obsolete.

But I was just thinking bringing back the old prop warplanes should happen.
Just got back from the SOFIC show in Tampa. It's SOCOM's annual big industry event. Right in front of the convention center and the big talk of the show? A prop plane that is gaining big time acceptance internationally as a Close Air Support weapons platform. SOCOM and USAF are actually looking at buying some for specialty missions. You may get your wish.

Has anyone mentioned regular old gas cans yet? I loathe the new gas cans with the safety spouts. I just take the spout off and use a funnel now

I don't know why we went away from these things.

I bought Mrs. Cotten an old school 80s/90s Polaroid cameras (the kind that prints pictures that you shake to get to develop) along with a book I saw advertised on FB called The Adventure Challenge: In Bed for her birthday this year.
They were supposed to be unrelated gifts but those two have been the greatest investment I've made in quite awhile...

Have 2016 Toyota Tundra, still has regular keys, three knobs to control he AC and Heat. Only touch controls are the radio, swap it for a old school pushbutton radio, it would be like driving my 1969 GMC. Most reviewers have considered all these things as negatives for the Tundra, but it’s why I love the truck.
