maybe 30 years ago, now they are just institutes of PC virtue signaling and worthless diplomas that have no meaning

That being said if you are an autodidact and have the will power and intelligence you can get a "Princeton" level education with an internet connection and a library card just like someone with talent and drive could become an MLB level hitter with only ever being pitched to outside a batting cage.

Well the difference is at the community college you have a bat and a ball. At Harvard you have a practice field, pitching machine, hitting coach, a strength coach, a chef cooking your meals and physical therapist. The better schools afford you more resources and compounding advantages through networking.

Dr. M pulled out his transcripts from Carnegie-Mellon and showed us the ‘D’ grade he earned in physics as an undergraduate.

I interviewed college students at a particular large and well-known public university with a strong geological and geophysical program for positions with the Oil and Gas company I worked for. And we interviewed only those working on Masters degrees. I was able to review transcripts and it blew me away the range of grades some of these kids had. All were in the graduate program as equals. Some struggled with courses as undergraduates while others may have had straight As. Some had to take courses over up to three times to pass. So I'm sure all these students graduated with advanced degrees but some did struggle at some point as undergraduates. I saw a few Ds on transcripts.

Whenever you have a large percentage of undergrads that have little to no social life because they don't have time. That's when college is tougher.

I have an undergrad in PETE from LSU and getting masters in PETE from TAMU and Full time MBA from Duke. Only difference is it’s much harder to get into Duke. FWIW LSU undergrad petroleum engineering is much harder than Duke MBA.

That’s because petroleum engineering is harder than business material. That’s not a Duke vs LSU thing.

True. The material is just much more complex and PETE is almost 100% equations while MBA is more memorization and less complex equations.

UVa isn’t much of a pressure cooker.
