225 miles offshore. Oil and Gas operator.
Love the work, pay, benefits, folks I work for and with, and only really working "half" of the year.
Hate being away from my family for 14 days at a time.

Advice from a not so old guy… once you get “stuck” in a career, harder to get out…
Experience, etc. you gonna be 40 one day looking for a new job, but have to go into entry level bc of no experience…
Take the less $$$ now while you are
Young…. Trust me… it’s no fun going thru life doing something hate…

If I could run it back after 20 yrs in the professional services industry, partner for the last 10, this is what I would do.
Establish a base income - plant work is a good base. Find a passion. Be an entrepreneur around that passion. Bust arse.
I am trying to do that now but the energy of a 20 something is hard to recreate.

Hmm nah. That’s some really dumb advice.

Is it?
You ever worked 30 years doing something you hate?
Quality of like is worth something… it’s not always about the money.
Die miserable if you want

Currently thinking about a possibility of switching industries/occupation in the future. What kind of job do you have and would you pursue it all over again (love it or hate it)? Simply trying to brainstorm on possible fits and options that I may not have considered for a move one day.
I’m in outside sales. I enjoy the freedom of my job and I get 26 days of PTO to take a week vacation and a lot of longer weekends. The strees of always having to produce can me nerve racking but after 11 years I’m used to it and no longer get the Sunday scaries. Typically leave my house at 8:00 to 8:30 and home by 4:30. Some days I work from home all day and don’t get out of my pj’s.
I also get a car package, cell phone, tolls, and they cover my auto insurance.

Residential construction manager
Hate it some days, love it others
But it's for me. So I feel fulfilled and very happy

It’s funny that people write derogatory comments on a message board about the physique that they could never achieve.
Diet and exercise, losers.
Jealousy is a bitch, ha?

Teacher. I love the people I teach with, coach with, and the kids I teach and coach. Can’t stand the central office people who haven’t been in a classroom in over 20 years if ever.

I’m a parts manager for a dealership that is part of a mediumish sized group in the south east. I’ve been doing this for @40 years. Like someone upthread said, I love the clowns, but hate the circus. I have the opportunity to go into outside wholesale parts sales for the group. I’m probably gonna take it. Better hours, I can flex my schedule, company truck and the best part…..never another Saturday.

Industrial estimating is my main role. It's work but I love the folks I work with and my boss is one of the best people I know. Other than my commute I don't have anything to bitch about.

How's the money?
Im a commercial Superintendent. I love the problem solving and constant changing. Hours are rough, and the stress from relying on suns to perform in order to succeed is rough.
Pay and job security in my market (school building in houston) are top notch. On a path to hopefully get into senior management before I turn 40.
I'll be glad to put the 60-70 hour weeks behind me.
