Sole exception is for folks who say outright: "I can't have a drink because I used to be a raging alcoholic." I can respect that.

This.

Those, "I just don't like it", "My distant family member was an alcoholic", "I'm a (insert religion here)" people are the ones that throw it in your face.

Headline should've been "What I learned since I quit drinking, started exercising, & stopped generally being a frickup"

Drinking heavily every weekend has a way of making you a frickup. I don't know why it's so consistent but i'm sure there's a mathematical formula to it somewhere.

Friend of mine told me a couple days ago that he quit drinking. He did some bad shite before.

I feel sorry for him. I love the taste of beer, wine, and whiskey. I would not want to deprive myself is the option.

I quit 15 years ago and agree with all the highlighted factors. The partI don't like is getting tired so early. I absolutely love early morning, however. No plans to ever start again.

I drink very rarely. I'll get drunk maybe once a year. I don't like to be places where everyone is drinking and I'm not. I don't like missing out on the fun.

i just sit back and enjoy the show of life

I see it both ways. There are plenty of drinkers that say:

"I love drinking" "My dad loves a bourbon", "I am a member of a tailgate that does beer pong and drinks like crazy every saturday"

It is just the drinkers seem to be considered to be a lot cooler. We are in the South though so drinking is more popular.

Holy cow. Is that a worry nowadays? Are people still fighting in their 30's in the Chuck?

I simply feel a hell of a lot better when I'm not drinking. My muscles and joints feel weaker when I'm drinking, and almost immediately feel better when I stop. My stomach thanks me a lot too, as do my kidneys.

Also, drinking tends to get me banned from tigerdroppings.com, after whiskey-fueled, anti-Miles rants.
