You should stay in contact and definitely don't take them for granted. My losses are both very fresh, my husband doesn't always get it either because his parents are still alive and healthy.

Sorry to hear that HC
Thanks. I'll be fine. First Saturday in 3 weeks I didn't have to bury/spread a parents ashes. Luckily, I have amazing family and friends who support me when I am struggling.

That’s the plan. Not sure how I’ll be when one one of them passes.

You have a young child too if I remember correctly? Sorry for your losses

My parents and I talk every day but I wish my dad and I were closer
Hes old school and doesn’t say “I love you” or get sappy. He’s turned into a grumpy old man that doesn’t like to leave his house.
Mom gives me anxiety but she’s cool. Lol

Yes, I have a 16 month old. He just got home from a 2 week road trip to the funerals in SD and MT. He is happy to be home.
One cool part of the trip is it may have been the loss of his grandparents, but Brooks got to have lunch with his great, great grandma. And they had so much fun playing.

Just started with the “I love you” with my parents since I was little. Feels kinda good to say it now.

My paw paw lived to be almost 100 and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. His mind was sharp until a few months before he died. I loved bringing my daughter to go talk to him. He was a walking/talking history book.

Dad was my best friend. Hunting and fishing partner.. he passed away in 15. I'm not really close to my mom. I feel bad for her but I didnt like how she treated my dad especially when he was sick..

Honestly, I've never had a real conversation with my dad. He always lectured, corrected, judged, and criticized me. He's obsessed with money. My mom is different than him but never very loving.

I went to the WWII museum with both of my grandfathers at the same time before they passed. They loved it, ran through the museum at an alarmingly fast pace while I was still trying to see all the stations. They had a good old time reminiscing, was a very good day for them.

Haven’t spoken to my dad since a couple days after Katrina. Good riddance. My kids, 10 and 8, have never met him and probably don’t even know he exists. My father-in-law is more of a father to me than mine ever was.

That sounds awesome.
It's insane that I've never been despite living an hour away.
I was practically raised by a grandfather that was dropped behind German lines and fought to the end of the war and lived to tell about it.

Is it something that can be done in 1 day or will I need 2? Oddly enough my wife and I talked about this last night.

That's so great.
My great grandma sends my child cards all the time. Has my great aunts show her pictures of him on Facebook all the time. It was just such a cool thing, most people mt age don't have great grandparents alive. Especially that are in great health. So for him to meet a great, great was so amazing.

If you really want to read everything and have the whole experience I would say 2 days.
