We'd know if there was thunder anywhere in the Atlanta metro area because our Aussie would run into the half bath and shut the door behind her. She was also pretty good at popping the door open once the danger had passed.
I had an 80lb shepherd mix when I was in college. I did an internship in Atlanta and after I got settled in, I decided to bring her up. She rode in the back of my little Toyota truck from Auburn to Atlanta. It was then that I found out that she was scared of airplanes coming in for a landing. One flow over us as we went by the airport and she came through the sliding back window of a 78 Toyota truck. I had no idea that she could fit through that narrow opening until that moment -- or that she was afraid of jets.

we have a metal rooster that stand about 2 feet high. my big arse 80lb Doberman wont go near it.
if his ball gets tossed near it while fetching he will just stand near it and stare at his ball.

Both were adopted. The one on the left is a "special needs dog" and besides 'food' he is scared of literally everything, including his own shadow.
The one on the right startles easily from loud noises but otherwise has no fear. hard to tell from the pic but he's almost 4' tall and over 120 lbs., some type of great dane mix I guess.

Cardboard boxes. He (a GR) can be full throttle in the middle of a play fight and if you grab any box he runs away.
Also whoopie cushions.
