A Metairie revival is not out of the question. The reason Metairie parades were so big in the 80s and early 90s was that crime and governance in New Orleans was so bad. See anything familiar?

People have short memories or just aren’t old enough to have witnessed.

This is nothing about the quality of schools in OP. Jesuit is a great school. BM is a great school. MCA and Dominican are also great schools. Problem is that they are located in a place that has serious leadership issues and crime issues

The most accurate thing in this thread. My point is anyone in the metro area who’s kids can succeed at Jesuit or Dominican/MCA, is going to send their kid there, even if Teedy is fricking shite up.

The educational difference between Dominican and Chapelle is astronomical, and that difference is even more outlandish when you look at Rummel and Jesuit.

There's more genuine New Orleans culture in StB and JP than there has been in Orleans parish for a couple decades now.

This. The hipsters and carpetbaggers love to take a snobby attitude about JP and StB while at the same time celebrating the Yat culture. They don’t realize those people in JP or StB, or at least their ancestors, were the people who created the culture.

Ok. I get your breaking point is pretty high. Thanks. Thinking Jesuit, MCA, Dominican, and BM are ASTRONOMICALLY better than the JP schools is ridiculous but you do you.

Go look at scholarship money from 4yr accredited universities, not including TOPS. Jesuit is at the top. MCA and Dominican flip flop. Look at per capita because of student size.

It’s not even close, lol.

I just spent the last 2yrs touring every single girls school in the archdiocese and comparing all the data before making our selection.

I triple any quote requested inside Orleans Parish.
ETA: haven't spent a dime in the parish in years.

What % of the kids at those schools do you think are getting that scholarship $? Also go check out the scholarship $ that the kids at Haynes are getting.

Newsflash. Jesuits has plenty of TOPS only kids as well. And kids that are just regular levels of education. As does BM (much larger %) Honestly if you’ve got a kid at an elite level, maybe it makes a difference but thinking Jesuit turns regular kids into NM scholars is silly.

Katrina was the great reset for Nola. It was in a really bad place in the late 90s/early 2000s and then Katrina infused it with a ton of federal $ while also chasing a lot of the undesirables out of town. Eventually it seems Nola went back to being Nola again.

Haynes and Franklin are great schools. Do I think Jesuit is going to turn an average kid into a genius? Absolutely not. D I think Jesuit is going to teach an average kid how to compete and achieve academically? Yep, and if he can’t cut it, he can transfer. Same goes for Dominican/MCA.

Is my daughter elite? She could be. She is hardly challenged at her current school. I suspect Dominican is going to be a slap in the face and that’s a good thing. She would skate at Chapelle and they would be perfectly okay with that. Matter of fact, they all but said so. Combine that with the meh ACT/SAT scores and it wasn’t hard to eliminate them.

Would like to see that data. I’m pretty sure Newman, McGehee, Sacred Heart, Country Day and St Martins are all ahead of Jesuit.

Sacred heart is not as impressive as their tuition suggests.

Didn’t look at schools that weren’t catholic so I can’t speak for the rest.

I doubt that

Jesuit had 25 national merit semi finalists this year

Sacred Heart had 4

McGehee had 1

Newman had 12

I didn’t see any for the other schools

I could see Newman possibly competing but those other schools are not even close to the caliber of Jesuit.

Country Day? lol

It’s not a New Orleans thread until it devolves into a high school pissing match.

Figured Ben Franklin would have a couple.

Unless you were sticking to private only.

Has Lusher put up any?
