Fire Ants

For me it’s mosquitoes because for the most part you can’t see or hear them. If one gets in the bedroom and buzzes your ears and bites you all night, it’s maddening.

Deer flies
Hands down worst. They don't quit until you smash em

That makes sense

And you can swat them away all you want, but they are coming back over and over again.
Lots of good candidates in this thread, but a damn horsefly makes me angry when it starts its shite.

Nooooooo, you can avoid ants easy.

Except in flood waters.

Where I'm at mosquitoes. If I lived in South Georgia it might would be gnats. I was doing a job down there a couple years ago and the damn things were so thick they were coming in through my AC vents of the truck

i'll preface this by saying i despise mosquitoes all year long, but we get tiny bright greenish-yellow thrips that bite, and tiny black biting flies...most of the time, i don't even know i've been bitten by either of them until the itching starts...

No-see-ums in FL are fricking terrible little assholes
Posted on 5/5/25 at 1:37 pm to TheAncientOne
Not sure of the proper name, but we called them marsh flies. They're a lot smaller than horse flies, but way more persistent.

Gnats and noseeums. Bigger stuff you can set up a big assed fan to blow away while hanging on the deck. The microscopic mofos seem impervious to the elements, real or manufactured

Red Top fly traps keep the flies pretty much in check. Mosquitoes rarely ever bite me, and when they do the itch only lasts a minute or two.
For me the most annoying are Carpenter Bees and whatever tiny black ants that wonder aimlessly around my kitchen from time to time. They aren't even motivated ants that find a food source and form a line. They just ramble around being annoying with no purpose in life. I can knock them down for a while, but they come back......one or two here......another one over there......shite.

Deer flies are much more aggressive imo. Mosquitoes and gnats are really bad but can be controlled mostly.

Oh yeah. Total assholes. I have a pole barn that I hate and want to replace so I don’t really care about it. But already this spring they’ve sawed giant gashes in it.
On the wood parts of our house, i religiously fill their holes with good wood filler and spray orange oil everywhere. They don’t really seem to care. I made a bunch of fake hornets nests out of paper bags. Meh.
I’m going to burn it all down and build with no wood.
